What is a 3PL?

Answer: 3PL stands for Third Party Logistics and it is used in reference to outside providers which provide warehousing or logistics services to companies. In many cases companies outsource many of their warehousing and logistics functions and Midwest is able to meet those needs. Midwest Material Management provides 3PL services to its customers such that some customers have been outsourcing some functions to Midwest for years. Not only is Midwest reliable but we are also consistent. Our services have consistently kept their manufacturing lines in full production.

What is the difference between public warehousing as opposed to Midwest’s lease space?

Answer: Midwest provides its customers with lease space where they know that their products are in a segregated area behind locked doors. Midwest space is not open to the public where anyone can come by and walk through to see your products. Midwest personnel will receive your products and log them in as received. Anytime you want your product removed, the move is documented and kept in our records. In the public warehouse setting your goods are stored in a large area with other companies’ products.

How does Midwest bill for services?

Answer: Midwest works with its clients to establish a system which works best for them. Midwest provides its customers with a variety of methods for billing including by the pallet, the square foot, labor per order, man hours per job, etc. The normal billing method is to bill monthly with net 30 days but in the past we have worked within customer billing timelines.
